Are you hoping that Im over the Farmer and you dont have to read about him anymore

Are you hoping that Im over the Farmer and you dont have to read about him anymore I check the farmer’s blog obsessively for any updates, which takes a lot of energy partially because he never writes on it but mostly because I have to work really hard at all the mental gymnastics  I use to  justify to myself what I’m even doing on there in the first place. But now I know. I was looking for evidence that he thinks about me as much as I think  about him. I wonder all the timeâ€"does he miss me when he’s sorting pigs for market? I did that with him. And I miss doing that with him. Maybe that’s asking for too much, because I was always letting a slightly-too-small pig get through the gate. But what about living inside the blue and red and yellow walls? The colors I picked to paint inside the house are so cozy. Do they make him think of me? The answer is no. Because he got married in December. I’ve watched the video 50 times. His family is so,  so happy in the video. They were never that happy around me. The farmer is happy, too. Happier in the video than I’ve ever seen him. Maybe its that hes getting to be the center of attentionâ€"he loves that. Maybe you’re thinking that he could never be the center of attention with me around. But, actually,  being the center of attention is hard for me. Which is why I hid at my first wedding and then there were only five people at my second wedding. I’m generally happy to go along with whatever someone else wants. That’s why dating him was so easy. But once we were together it became clear that my kids are the center of my attention. His family is like most farm familiesâ€"all the attention goes to the land. I don’t think he could have ever imagined how much time, energy, and resources I’d give to my kids. The farmer was honest from the start that he loved the land more than he loved me. People told me that’s how farmers are and I loved him, so I thought it was  OK. Until I saw this video, I didn’t realize that maybe he was excited to be with me because he had never been loved more than the land. But I loved my kids more than I loved him. So he was still second. The woman he married seems niceâ€"I think I can tell that from the video. So I am not surprised that he’s so happy. I am surprised that he crawled under her dress and pulled her garter down with his teeth. To say I would never do that is the only way I can think to talk about it. Because the only thing that matters is that he loved doing it. He did a victory dance afterwards, garter in mouth, fists pumping in the air. And she is laughing with joy. I don’t think I will be reading the farmer’s blog anymore. I think I was reading  it  to try to understand who I am now and how I got here. Because there is no way to get where I want to be if I cant tell the story about where I’ve been. People tell me I dont charge enough to rewrite resumes. I used to worry those people were right, but now I don’t. I charge less than most people to rewrite a resume because it’s a privilege to help someone find the story of where they’ve been. The story you tell about your past determines where you can go in the future. If you never get a story that feels right to you, you get stuck thereâ€"this is just as true in your professional life as it is in your personal life. Stories are what we use to make sense of our world. And every time I help someone rewrite theirs I’m practicing for the next time Ill need to rewrite my own.

Is Your Brand Sinking 7 Ways To Tell - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Is Your Brand Sinking 7 Ways To Tell - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career When you really think about it, your personal brand is kind of like a ship you’ve built for yourself. Similar to a sailing vessel, you laid the blueprints and executed its building. When it’s finally set to sea, you’re left captaining it. But maintaining and managing your personal brand requires more energy than most want to admit. Even the most successful brands take on water at times from the personal brands of celebrities and thought leaders, to the corporate brands we’ve come to know and love. Seeing other brands experience trials and tribulations often leads you to wonder about your own. You may not be experiencing anything large scale, but there might be a few cracks to consider for future longevity. Like a small leak on a boat, there are a variety of ways to tell if your brand is sinking. Here’s how: 1. Use your intuition. If you’ve developed a stand-out personal brand, you likely have keen business sense. Take a moment to consider the recent health of your personal brand does anything look a little funny? If you’re having any doubts or strange feelings, it might be time to dig deeper and consider making a few adjustments. 2. Take a look at your target audience. There may have been a recent change in your target audience. A simple way to tell if your brand is in trouble is through gathering insight from those who matter most to it. Has your audience reach been on a steady decrease or is there less two-way communication recently? You might not be reaching those you originally sought to, and it may be time for you to reposition yourself or reevaluate the specifics for your target audience. 3. Consider the commentary. What are others saying about your personal brand? While you can’t set up a Yelp account for your personal brand, you can consider a variety of sources for feedback if you’re worried about your brand. Spend time evaluating comments you’ve received on recent blogs, conversations you’ve been having in forums, and consider setting a Google Alert for your name. Do your best to develop and maintain a 360-degree of your brand. If you’re receiving a lot negativity, it may be time to act accordingly. 4. You’re experiencing radio silence. Have the crickets been chirping lately? If you experience a lack of interaction, leads, or general communication, it’s definitely time to check your personal brand for a pulse. Things do slow down at times, but something has usually gone wrong if you experience long-term bouts of calm. It may be time to develop a new marketing strategy. 5. Your brand’s vision is foggy. Sometimes the hustle of maintaining your brand can cause you to lose sight of your original vision. Spend time getting back to your roots, and then take a look at the future is your brand still headed in the same direction? As your brand grows, you will have to adapt the changes into a long-term plan for success. This means utilizing new social channels and expanding your reach. 6. You’ve lost consistency. If you’ve been bouncing all over the place lately, it might be time to send your brand back to the drawing board. Consistency is one of the most important elements of a personal brand. No one enjoys interacting with an inconsistent brand, because it leaves them wondering what to expect. Solidify your stances and actively maintain them both online and offline. 7. You’re distracted. Sadly, your personal brand doesn’t get to take a day off. If you’ve been busy and slightly distracted, there’s a good chance your personal brand could be a suffering from it. Grab the reins before it’s too late. Don’t let your personal brand take the plunge. Utilize these methods to tell if it’s time to take action! Have you experienced a brand in trouble? How to be Successful in Online Graduate Application Forms

How to be Successful in Online Graduate Application Forms You can download this information as a pdf for later reading. Download  Online Applications Form Information  as pdf. Today, more than ever, companies are using online application forms. A shift from the traditional send-a-CV-and-Cover-Letter approach. These application forms take anywhere between 60-120 minutes to complete. They usually have different sections, with 4-5 questions each. General application form structure: Personal details Education details Employment history Competency based questions Reasons for applying Activities and Interests References Personal Details this section is the easiest to fill out and, as its name suggests, only  requires personal information, such as name, age range, etc.   Education Details  in this section you are asked to enter your education history, along with grades. In some cases, you might be asked to give detailed information of your University modules with grades. Remember, if there are gaps in your education, dont try to cover them up, you will be given a chance to explain these gaps in later stages. Or you can call the HR department of the company and explain before proceeding further with the application.   Employment History  this section requires you to fill in your work experience, or employment history. It can include part-time jobs, internships, industrial placements, year in industry. You cannot enter voluntary work and positions of responsibilities (i.e. team captain, university project manager) as employment history. Although your references can come from any of the mentioned sources. If you have had too many jobs, it is best to use the most relevant ones. Usually, there is a word limit of 200-300 words in which you have to fit your answer. Best practice in answering employment history questions in description is to use the following format: what was the job job responsibility skills gained from the job Competency Based Questions  this section is generally accepted to be the most difficult and time consuming section. It requires you to answer specific questions about experiences and responsibilities you might have had in the past. These are the same for every applicant within that graduate scheme application. Again the word limit ranges from 200-300 words. An example question Give an example of a time when you were managing a team. How did you manage it and what was the result? OR Tell me about a time when you failed to complete a task or project on time, despite intending to do so? The above question is an example from wikijob.co.uk and different ways to answer the question are given on their page here. Best practice to answer questions in the competency section is to follow the STAR technique: Situation: describe the situation Task: what was the task at hand for you Action: what planning/action did you undertake Result: conclude with what was the direct result of your involvement (good or bad) Reasons for applying  this section is like a mini cover letter. You have to give reasons of why you are interested in the job, or that particular scheme. This section again has word limits, hence you need to chose your words wisely. You need to go through the employers website and use forums online to search for past experiences from students who applied to that employer. wikijob.co.uk and thestudentroom.co.uk are good resources for such research.   Activities and Interests in this section you can list your interests and other activities. It may include giving details about your voluntary work or positions of responsibility. Again, if there are too many choices, it is good practice to list the most relevant ones to the job.   References you know all about this section. It is the same standard as the one on your CV. You simply give them details of your referees. Review your form after completion It is good practice to read and review your form, once complete, for any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors. Dont make the famous mistake of writing carrier instead of career. Remember the fact that some companies have a three-strike rule with spelling mistakes i.e.: three spelling mistakes and your application is rejected at that point, without even proceeding to your credentials. These are some basic tips about the forms. You cant always be 100% successful, but if you follow the steps in this post, you will definitely increase your chances of being successful at the application stage. 11
